Kiwanis News - week 45
Greetings NORTH MANATEE Kiwanians,
Very energetic and well attended meeting... with members and guests, we had a total of 20 people sharing Friday morning breakfast and Kiwanis news. Pamela and Ross Edwards joined us from the W. Bradenton Club; new member, Candi, brought 3 guests- Susie Kruse from the Anna Maria Island Club, friend Kyle Cutchen and her 9 year old daughter, Caylie. Tom Devito, who has visited before, attended again as Kevin's guest.
The highlight of the meeting was certainly Candi Gerhart's official induction into our club. Brenda Rogers performed the ceremony assisted by Candi's sponsor, Susie Kruse. Candi received a member pin, her new badge, a Kiwanis visor and a "I make a difference!" desk plaque.
Amongst all of Friday's activity, Marshall Eckford told us about a very worth-while project sponsored by the Family Partnership Center. They are supplying backpacks and school supplies for kids at Rogers Elementary in Bradenton. Most of the families whose children attend this school would have difficulty purchasing these items.
I understand that this is a bit last minute but I am putting out the word to our members asking if you would be able bring some of the required items to our next meeting (Aug 13th) to donate to this worthy cause. We will concentrate on the supplies for Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades. Marshall will then put them together in the appropriate grade packets and deliver them to the Family Partnership Center. If you are not able to attend the meeting BUT you do drive by Popi's during the week, you are welcome to drop them off in our "meeting room closet". Basic required items are pencils, printer paper, crayons, ziplock bags, white glue and pocket folders. For a complete list, email me at debmcnulty@gmail.com.

Don't forget about our Membership Meeting this coming Friday. The meeting will be dedicated to learning about the Kiwanis organization and specifically how our club contributes to the North River community. Take a moment to think about friends and folks who might have an interest in learning more about us. Our April meeting brought in 3 new people. Let's see if we can end our year with a few more!
